Zalmoxes by jeffquinn Zalmoxes by jeffquinn
acylic on canvas board, 12" by 16".
A zalmoxes shqiperorum, an early ornithopod dinosaur
The style for this painting (the water/milk? and the sky? patterns) was mainly derived from Camille Rose Garcia's amazing paintings and the dinosaur form was "borrowed" (i basically copied) from Joćo Boto's (sputatrix.deviantart.com) sketch for zalmoxes (Boto is an amazing paleoillustrator and, personally one of my favorite artists, y'all should check his work out), and the dino's color was used in reference of William Stout's alioramus watercolor.
I hope you enjoy!
I think this painting has inspired me to start a whole new series based on these Camille Rose Garcia paintings....ahh, maybe later...

My only complaint is that you might try to get ahold of some photos or skeletals of Zalmoxes since the skull is well eh... but otherwise, awesome.

thanks for your input!
As for the anatomical accuracy...i know, This is my first dinosaur painting EVER and so, therefore, a little (or a lot in this case) incongruity or incorrectness is expected. Also, i had to sacrifice some anatomical correctness in order to keep with my style, if i had the background that i have with the milky water splashy-ness and then a perfect photorealistic dinosaur, it would just look a little akward. I'm so sorry to pull out the "artistic license" card on you. i really do need to paint some more "traditional" paleoart so that i have a little bit more credibility and confidence to throw around (if this makes any sense whatsoever). Thanks again! And your works are so AMAZING!!!

Good piece, it's a good start. It's a bit blurry alas: I'd resize it a bit and resubmit it, it'll be better.
Keep on the good work, practice makes all.
